AirAsia X also announced that travelers starting from Adelaide would be able to use AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service to connect to a number of Asian destinations from Kuala Lumpur without having to check-in again. The eligible destinations are: Chendgu, Bali, Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Osaka, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, Penang, Singapore, Seoul, Busan, Taipei, Bangkok, Phuket, and Ho Chi Minh City.

“Australia is one of our core markets where AirAsia X will see its wings expand and the Adelaide route has been a priority. Our goal since launching our first Australian service on the Gold Coast in 2007 was to operate in the five major states, and we are proud to have accomplished this within six years,” said AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani during a special ceremony to introduce the route.

Adelaide is AirAsia X’s fifth Australian city joining the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. An Airbus 330-300, which is able to carry 377 passengers, will be used to service the route.
