Following a seasonal increase in flight frequency from Guangzhou, China to Auckland, New Zealand, China Southern Airlines has decided to extend the increase from February to the end of October 2014. The airline will maintain its increase of 10 flights per week up from seven due to strong consumer demand. The increase will see an additional 45,000 seats available between the two destinations as serviced by a Boeing 787 aircraft. According to Auckland International Airport the increase is in line with tourism initiatives to boost Chinese visitors to 570,000 by 2020. Said Auckland International Airport aeronautical commercial head Glenn Wedlock, “This latest announcement from China Southern Airlines is a response to the high Chinese demand for direct New Zealand air services, as opposed to the more traditional one-stop Australia and New Zealand holidays.”
