Etihad’s much anticipated A380 plane will debut December 27 between the UAE and London Heathrow. The wide-body, double-deck plane will be equipped with Etihad’s new premium cabin encompassing its The Residence, First Apartments, and The Lobby lounge. Highlights of the new plane include The Residence with a three-room configuration including a full double bed and Savoy Hotel-trained butler on call. The First Apartment also offers a full bed and double-seat couch. Ten of Etihad’s A380 planes are currently scheduled for delivery in December and the new plane will operate exclusively between the UAE and London by May 2015. From June 1, the jumbo aircraft will operate on select flights between Abu Dhabi and Sydney. Between December 2014 and June 2015, the carrier will also introduce B787-9 planes on six routes including between Düsseldorf and Doha from December 2014, Washington DC and Mumbai from January 2015, and Brisbane and Moscow from June 2015. An upgraded cabin will be available for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, but The Residence cabin, First Apartment, and Lobby can only be found aboard in the airline’s A380.
