Hawaiian Airlines will launch non-stop service between Honolulu and Beijing, China beginning April 16, 2014, pending government approval. This marks the airline’s tenth new international destination since November 2010 and follows new service to Sendai, Japan and New Zealand. The route strategically targets leisure travelers from China’s capital, allowing access to Hawaiian’s extensive network hub in Honolulu. An A330 aircraft will fly three times weekly between the cities with a capacity of 294 seats. It is the only non-stop service between Honolulu and Beijing. “A scheduled flight between China and Hawai’i has long been an aspiration of Hawaiian and the travel industry in our state, and as the barriers to visitor travel from China to the United States slowly come down, we believe there will be significant demand for a Hawai’i vacation and Hawaiian Airlines,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airlines’ president and CEO.
