IndiGo Shifts Singapore Destinations

India’s largest low-cost carrier by market share IndiGo is to begin flying to Singapore from Chennai from March 1, but will cancel its daily services from Mumbai and Delhi.

It is understood the airline has faced stiff competition from full-service carriers on the Mumbai/Delhi route— on which Jet Airways, Air India, and Singapore Airlines each operates direct flights. IndiGo said it was also exploring the possibility of linking the Lion City with Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Set up in 2006, IndiGo has grown to operate 373 daily flights to 33 destinations with a fleet of 61 aircraft.

At the time of writing the outgoing flight was scheduled to depart Chennai at 10 p.m. to land in Singapore at 4:50 a.m. The return flight will take off at 5:50 a.m. to arrive back in Chennai at 7:15 a.m.
