Japan Airlines and Bangkok Airways are to enter a codeshare partnership on several routes from November 15, marking the latest carrier tie-up in the region after Gardua Indonesia and Etihad Airways last month unveiled a broad alliance.
JAL already has several such agreements in place, but the latest codeshare will be bring more convenience to passengers traveling from Japan to Thailand’s tourism hotspots—and will enhance JAL’s route offering with destinations to which it did not previously fly.
Bangkok Airways will place its code on flights operated by JAL from Bangkok to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and Osaka. JAL will place its code on flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Phuket, and Mumbai.
Frequent fliers on both airlines will be able to redeem their air miles on flights operated by either carrier, although at the time of writing air miles could not be earned while flying with the partner airline.
