South Korea’s scenic resort island of Jeju should start to see more international visitors from the end of this month. That’s because the country’s largest flagship carrier, Korean Air, will launch a daily Incheon-Jeju service from March 25.

Passengers will go through immigration at the top-rated Incheon International Airport before boarding the flight to Jeju Island. That will be an improvement as currently foreign visitors who enter Korea via Incheon often must travel to the domestic Gimpo airport in western Seoul, which takes about half an hour by car, to transfer to domestic flights.

The airline’s B737-800 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 150 passengers, will take off from Incheon at 7:05 p.m. and arrive in Jeju at 8:10 p.m. On the way back it will leave Jeju airport at 5 p.m. and arrive in Incheon at 6:05 p.m.

DestinAsian wrote a feature story about Jeju Island in the June/July 2010 “islands issue.” (Don’t miss the photos of the grannies who dive for sea creatures.)
