Qantas revealed its 300-seat lounge at Hong Kong International Airport this month following a multimillion-dollar investment. The lounge borrows the talents of chef Neil Perry who consulted for the airline’s Singapore lounge. Perry has created a menu for the lounge based on his Rockpool and Spice Temple restaurants with Asian-inspired flavors and ingredients. A BBQ bar, yum cha trolleys, and extensive buffet are on offer along with Spice Temple cocktails, a world-class wine selection, and barista service. Qantas International CEO, Simon Hickey, describes the lounge as “stylish and contemporary, designed to reflect the color, vibrancy, and luxury of Hong Kong.” Australia-based Sumu Design and Caon Studio are behind the bold geometric patterns of the space, like those of traditional Chinese design. Sofitel manages guest amenities such as a hosted experience for customers traveling in first class and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyers, with exclusive services including shirt pressing, shoe shining, and priority access to the lounge’s 12 showers.
