On Tuesday, United became the first airline to put the Boeing 787 Dreamliner back into international service with its inaugural flight from Denver to Tokyo. This route marks the city’s first nonstop connection to Asia. “Already, Colorado is a top-five dream destination for people in the U.S., and we’d like to make it a top-five dream destination for Japan and throughout Asia,” said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Tuesday. “Japan is Colorado’s fourth-largest source of foreign investment, and we want to help companies expand by taking advantage of Colorado’s competitive business environment and highly educated workforce.”

The plane has 36 Business First seats, 70 Economy Plus seats, and 113 Economy seats. Flight 139 leaves daily from Denver International Airport at 12:35 p.m. and arrives at Tokyo-Narita International Airport at 3:30 p.m. the next day.  For the return, the flight takes off from Tokyo at 5:35 p.m. and lands in Denver at 1:15 p.m. on the same day.

United was the U.S.launch customer for the Dreamliner and currently owns six in its fleet with 55 more ordered. The plane was grounded in January of this year because of problems with its battery but has recently been given the all-clear by the Federal Aviation Authorities.
