Virgin Atlantic has unveiled its collection of 22 Vivienne Westwood-designed uniforms—including flight attendant, pilot, and Clubhouse staff—after a year of trials. Using strong cuts in favor with English fashion traditions, Westwood aimed for simultaneously flattering and motion-friendly outfits. The suit fabrics also have a nano finish which extends their life and enables the clothes to retain their color and finish for longer. Clubhouse staff don vests inspired by the Victorian waistcoat. Savile Row is alluded to with the men’s flight attendant three-piece suit. Female flight attendants’ uniforms are akin to Westwood’s Bettina Jacket from her spring 1995 runway show. The fabrics are also eco-friendly made with closed loop recycling technology—recycled polyester yarns are made from used plastic bottles. “My clothes have always got a very strong dynamic rapport with the body, they are very body conscious, they help you to look glamorous, more hourglass, more woman,” said Westwood.
