World’s Best Airline Ranking

Skytrax has published a comprehensive list of the world’s 100 best airlines. The ranking uses a survey of air passengers spanning 160 countries with over 18 million respondents, the largest airline survey in the world.

Topping the list is Dubai-based, Emirates, jumping from #8 last year to the top of the list. Emirates knocked Qatar down one position from its previous #1 reign. Singapore Airlines maintained the third position, followed by ANA All Nippon Airway and Asiana Airlines.

Asian airlines dominated the top 10 without a single European or American brand managing to sneak in. Air Canada was the only North American brand in the top 20 (at #20), while Lufthansa was the first European carrier to rank in at number 11.

Skytrax conducted the survey using an online questionnaire about passenger experiences with airlines on the ground, onboard and during a 10-month period. 40 performance indicators were used to calculate the list including check-in, boarding, onboard seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, inflight entertainment and staff service. The survey covered more than 200 airlines.
