Boeing is collaborating with LIFT by Encore to develop a new seating option called the “Tourist Class”, which has been especially designed for the Boeing 737 aircraft and is currently being exhibited at the 2016 Hamburg Aircraft Interiors Expo. Created to maximize passenger seating space, the seat boasts an improved flying experience for passengers, with slimmer seats that offer an open and more comfortable environment in the cabin. Expected to be popular among low-cost carriers, the design is available for both new and existing aircraft, with installation slated to take place in 2017.

“A seat designed in such close collaboration with an airframer is an industry first,” said Alan Wittman, director of Boeing’s seat integration team. “This collaboration will allow airlines and leasing companies to build on the success of the Boeing Sky Interior in a whole new way. It also means our customers will be able to better serve their customers and differentiate themselves in the marketplace.”
