Cathay Pacific will introduce a new seasonal service between Hong Kong and Christchurch from December this year, directly linking the two cities by air for the first time and complementing the airline’s existing services to Auckland.
Set to operate between 1 December 2017 and 28 February 2018, the non-stop Christchurch service will be flown three times per week, departing Hong Kong on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays aboard state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft.
On Wednesdays and Sundays, the outbound flight will leave at 8:45 p.m. and touch down in Christchurch at 12:55 p.m. the next day. The homeward journey will reach Hong Kong at 8:55 p.m local time after taking off at 2:25 p.m. New Zealand time. Fridays will see a 2:50 p.m. departure with a scheduled landing at 7:00 a.m. the following morning. From Christchurch, the return flight will take to the skies at 8:30 a.m. for a 3 p.m. arrival in Hong Kong.
The new service is timed to coincide with the Southern Hemisphere’s peak summer months, while providing for South Island–based travelers a quicker route to Hong Kong and other destinations further beyond. Tickets can be booked through the Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand websites.
