The third aircraft in Boeing’s new B737 Max series follows the industry trend of fuel efficiency.
Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company, has debuted its new 737 Max-7 aircraft at its factory in Renton, Washington on Monday.
Highly anticipated by the aviation industry, the smallest of Boeing’s 737 Max family is a single-aisle aircraft that can carry a maximum of 72 passengers.
Small but mighty, the aircraft follows the industry trend of fuel efficiency, with 18 percent lower fuel costs per seat compared to its predecessor, the 737-700. Yet, it can fly up to 3,850 nautical miles, which is the most in the 737 Max family.
Flight tests are expected to begin in the weeks to come, with the aircraft expected to enter service starting with Southwest Airlines in 2019.
Keith Leverkuhn, vice president and general manager of the B737 Max program said “For our airline customers serving airports at high altitudes or remote locations, the Max 7 is the ideal complement to their fleet.”
