Come June 30, 2017, Hong Kong Airlines will begin operating a daily service to Vancouver, creating new competition for Air Canada and Cathay Pacific. While confirmation is still pending, it is likely that the airline will switch from the Airbus A3320-200 to the A350-900 once it receives its first A350 aircraft next August. The new Hong Kong-Vancouver route launch—which will mark the airline’s expansion to North America—is in line with the carrier’s ongoing strategy to accelerate its global development blueprint. “This year marks the addition of 11 new destinations including Australia and New Zealand, which is a record-breaking achievement,” explained co-chairman Zhang Kui. Having recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, Hong Kong Airlines has also lined up a slew of other equally exciting activities and services to mark the milestone, including the upcoming debut of its new VIP lounge in the Midfield Concourse of Hong Kong International Airport.
