Singapore Airlines announced new benefits for members of its KrisFlyer frequent flyer program. Now members can use their KrisFlyer miles to pay for Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights booked through the SIA website. Additionally, they can mix miles and cash to pay for fuel surcharges and taxes on tickets. Other upgrades include more choices on seats on any Singapore or SilkAir flight and the ability to pay off tickets for any of their redemption nominees. Members need 5,000 accumulated miles to start taking advantage of the new benefits.
The change means the end of only being able to use miles on selected flights only and of travellers having to accumulate enough miles to redeem a flight. These problems have led to miles expiring unused.
“The enhancements to our loyalty program will not stop here. Members can look forward to further enhancements in the year ahead,” said Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Mak Swee Wah.
Members can accumulate miles by traveling with 31 participating airlines or spending at 172 nonairline partners.
