Business-class passengers aboard Qantas’ revamped Airbus A380 can look forward to socializing at two new lounges on the upper deck.
Located on either side on the grand staircase leading to the first-class seats, the café-inspired lounges will each feature two tables fitted with soft LED lighting, as well as comfortable padded benches.
Based on an early conceptual sketch by Qantas designer David Caon, the lounge will also house a self-serve minibar for beverages and a video screen for in-flight entertainment.
Come March 2019, carrier’s entire fleet of 12 superjumbos are set for a tip-to-tail refresh, with completion expected by the end of 2020.
Aside from the addition of new lounges, the Australian flag carrier will replace A380’s decade-old business class and premium economy seats with new products from the Boeing 787.
Meanwhile, first-class suites will be fitted with “contoured cushioning”, as well as a larger HD video display to replace the current 17-inch panel.
