To celebrate Singapore’s 51st National Day next week, Jetstar’s cabin crew will be broadcasting their in-flight announcements in the city-state’s colloquial English—better known as Singlish—on selected flights this August 9. The cheeky video shows the pilot and cabin crew adopting the distinctive accent and using uniquely Singlish terms such as “lah” and “confirm plus chop”, much to the passengers’ amusement. The idea started off as an April Fool’s joke, popularized through a video that the budget airline released earlier this year. If you want to see more Singlish, can check out Jetstar’s Facebook page lah!
