Above: Iskandar Widjaja is an adviser at Musik Klasik Indonesia, an organization promoting classical music in the world’s fourth-most populous country.
One of Asia’s most gifted violinists is to appear at the Westin Hotel in Bali on August 24 for a one-off concert in aid of UNICEF’s Check Out for Children campaign, a project the children’s charity runs in partnership with Starwood Hotels.
German-born but of Indonesian descent, Iskandar Widjaja hasn’t looked back since first picking up a violin at the somewhat precocious age of four. After attending several of Berlin’s most prestigious music academies, Iskandar embarked on a career as a soloist and chamber musician before releasing his first record last year.
Iskandar will also work with some of Indonesia’s young violinists and collaborate with them in his evening performance, which will also feature a local children’s choir.
Tickets for ‘An Evening with Iskandar Widjaja’ are priced at US$6, while limited places for an interactive session with Iskandar, which includes a CD signing and entry to the concert, are available for around US$27. For reservations, call +62 811 380 2975 or email email@example.com.
All proceeds will be donated directly to a UNICEF project providing education opportunities and vaccination programs to children across the Asia-Pacific region.
