AirAsia X Indonesia Launches Jakarta-Tokyo Direct Flight

Low-cost carrier AirAsia X Indonesia has opened reservations for its latest direct route from Jakarta to Tokyo’s Narita Airport. Following the success of its direct flight from Bali to Tokyo, which was launched last year, this new route is scheduled to kick off on May 1. The service will be available daily on an Airbus A330-300, which accommodates 377 passengers.

Emirates to Start Flights to Santiago

Come July 5, Emirates will be launching five-times-weekly flights between Dubai and Santiago via Sao Paulo. Currently, the airline operates daily A380 flights to Sao Paulo. With this additional frequency, Emirates will fly 12 times a week to Sao Paulo, with five of those flights continuing to Santiago. This new route will be served by a Boeing 777-200LR, featuring 38 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, and 264 seats in economy, in a 3-4-3 configuration.

Philippine Airlines Passengers Now Eligible for TSA Pre-check

Philippine Airlines is the latest Asian airline to join the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-check program. This enables selected travelers to enjoy expedited security screening when traveling from the U.S. Apart from being able to enter dedicated TSA Pre-check lanes when departing from U.S. airports, these travelers are also exempted from having to remove their shoes, jackets, belts, liquids, and laptop from their bags during security screening.
