Idris Elba wears many hats—as an actor, producer, DJ, and now, one of the proprietors of The Parrot London, a tropical-themed bar at Covent Garden’s century-old Waldorf Hilton hotel.

For his latest venture, Elba joined forces with brothers Lee and Nicky Caulfield, co-owners of luxe alcoholic ice-cream brand Cheers, to set up a cozy 60-seat venue nodding to the Waldorf’s Palm Court in its florid, greenery-laden decor.

The creative cocktails here come served in whimsical drinking vessels shaped like birds and blowfish, whereas a five-piece house band provides the nightly entertainment, supplemented by surprise performances by stars of the West End and the silver screen. You might even catch Elba himself playing sets in the DJ booth.
