Thirty-two years after making Hangzhou the site of its first hotel in China, Shangri-La has returned to the city with a second hotel, the Midtown Shangri-La, Hangzhou, which opened in March. Romantic views of West Lake certainly make rooms an easy sell, but the hotelâ€™s buzziest asset is Midtown Brewery, a beer bar that produces five craft brews on-site. Along with the ales on tap, beer cocktailsâ€”a classic paloma mixed with the IPA, a vodka-enhanced shandy with the wheat beerâ€”and a meat-focused menu with chow like beer-basted beef skewers make this no ordinary hotel bar.
