An hour’s drive from Kathmandu, the Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel is a quiet retreat set on the outskirts of Nepal’s temple-filled town of Dhulikhel, with a focus on the complete wellbeing of guests’ mind and body.

Why you’ll want to go: With the jaw-dropping views of the Lantang range of the Himalayas, spa treatments, and plenty of areas to kick back and relax, Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel makes the perfect base to connect with the remote surroundings and oneself. Guests are also guaranteed a healthy stay, with a trio of organic restaurants which employ ingredients grown at a farm nearby.

Rooms: The resort comprises 40 suites, starting at a spacious 120 square meters. Nearly everything in the room and elsewhere in the property is sourced locally, from the unbleached cotton for the linens, copper fittings, and wooden exposed beams and furnishings.

Things you can do: Walled with rock crystals said contain over 80 important minerals, the Himalayan salt room offers guests plenty of health benefits, while a sunrise stroll through the meditation maze is guaranteed to enrich the soul. During the day, travelers are welcome to go out on an easy hike and explore the surrounding hills and rural life, or stay in for some pottery, cooking, or painting workshops. Head up to the rooftop terrace at night to view the stars.
