Did you know that The Langham London, which opened in 1865, was the first hotel in the world to offer guests hydraulically-operated lifts, and hot and cold running water? Or that every Langham hotel marks the transition from day to night with its own unique ‘Change of Day’ ritual that takes place at 7:05 pm each evening?
Continuing the brand’s tradition of progress, The Langham Hotels and Resorts group unveiled a new hospitality platform called ‘Think Pink’ at the first ever Innovative Festival, which took place from June 11 to 15 at at the Langham Place Beijing Capital Airport in China. Referencing the brand’s signature color, the online portal allows Langham employees worldwide to contribute ideas and give feedback about ongoing projects across the brand’s hotels via the web, email, and SMS.
The event, which coincided with the 147th anniversary of the Langham brand, got the ball rolling by showcasing six ideas generated by the Langham Place Beijing Capital Airport staff through the portal. These included installing a flight check-in service at the hotel; creating a green space on the building’s rooftop; and using a buggy to transport guests and their baggage through the large hotel.
