Make Merry with This Indonesian Feast at The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa

Rijsttafel translates literally to “rice table”.

Holidaymakers in Bali can now head to The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa for a taste of Indonesia’s classic multi-dish feast rijsttafel (literally, “rice table”).

Presented in the private dining room adjoining the resort’s Hemingway-inspired whisky and wine bar, Klass & Brass, the lavish spread—based on a dining tradition that dates back to Dutch colonial times—showcases culinary specialties from across the archipelago in a dozen dishes ranging from Sumatran beef rendang and seared tuna with sambal matah (a fiery Balinese condiment of shallots, lemongrass, and coconut oil) to perkedel jagung (sweet-corn fritters), savory martabak, and cones of fragrant yellow rice, all served by a procession of kebaya-clad waitresses.

Available throughout the week, the Indonesian Rijsttafel Celebration requires reservations a day in advance. The only other catch? You need to have at least eight people in your party. After all, there’s a lot of food to go around.
