A new breed of luxury medi-spas are pushing the boundaries of Bangkok’s wellness scene with their high-tech anti-aging treatments. Here are four to try out on your next visit to the Thai capital.
1. Spa Studio
Located in the recently renovated Garden Wing at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, the Spa Studio is the first place in Thailand to offer anti-aging facials by German skin-care brand QMS Medicosmetics. Go for the Advanced Cellular Hydration, a 75-minute exfoliation and mask treatment that cleanses and reenergizes the skin; or the 45-minute skin firming facial, which employs a special vacuum-suction device to massage the face in wave-like motions, stimulating muscles to give you a fresh, radiant complexion.
2. Dermaster Wellness and Aesthetic Institution
Frequented by Thai celebrities and Middle East royals alike, the Dermaster Wellness and Aesthetic Institution includes among its roster of treatments the sensational-sounding “vampire facelift,” in which blood is drawn from the patient’s arm, spun in a centrifuge, and then injected into the facial skin to impart a youthful glow. For something less drastic, the new three-hour Zell Lift combines cell-renewing radio frequency technology with a facial plus a shoulder and hand massage.
3. Dii Wellness Med Spa
Vitamin Dii Anti-aging treatments at the Central Embassy Mall’s Dii Wellness Med Spa are tailored to each client, starting with a doctor’s consultation and a blood analysis. Signatures include Face Cell, with 16 mini injections of vitamins and enzymes administered to facial acupressure points; and the IV Therapy, a personalized vitamin cocktail delivered directly into the bloodstream as you enjoy a refreshing oxygen spray facial. Thai and even Korean stars come here to maintain their looks for on-screen close-ups.
4. I.Sawan spa
It may be five stories above the busiest intersection in town, but at the Grand Hyatt Erawan’s I.Sawan spa you’re cocooned from all the clamor inside six residential spa cottages and nine treatment bungalows. Here, Intraceuticals-brand facials spray you with pressurized oxygen rich in hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, and amino peptides. Another option is the 90-minute Age-Defying Hydration Facial by Italian skin-care specialist Comfort Zone, a nap-inducing treatment that involves a facial cleanse and exfoliating scrub, an anti-oxidant mask, and a neck and shoulder massage for a soothing finish.
