Small Luxury Hotels of the World Unveils 2 New Properties in Asia

The group’s latest hotel openings include Sukhothai Shanghai and Akyra Sukhumvit Bangkok.

Fans of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) will be pleased to know that they have recently unveiled two new properties, in Shanghai and Bangkok respectively.

The group, known for its collection of luxurious and independently minded hotels, offers personalized stays and one-of-a-kind experiences including star-lit dinners at remote beaches and deserted island getaways.

The Sukhothai Shanghai is a 201-room contemporary luxury hotel designed by the internationally-acclaimed Neri & Hu Design and Research Office. The rooms feature floor-to-ceiling views of the city and natural furnishings, which create a sense of calm and warmth.

There’s also a spa that offers Southeast Asian healing therapies and signature wellness programs.

Dining options include La Scala restaurant, which is led by Michelin-starred guest chef Theodor Falser and serves fresh-to-order contemporary Italian cuisine from an open theater kitchen.

Bangkok’s Akyra Sukhumvit Bangkok is conveniently located in the buzzing Sukhumvit Soi 20, which is home to high-end retail outlets and fine dining establishments.

Guests can expect 46 rooms and suites designed with natural wooden floors, crisp white linens, and neutral colors.

The hotel is also set to be Asia’s first to omit single-use plastic in its rooms or restaurants. Other eco-friendly initiatives include presenting guests with stainless steel water bottles and reusable shopping bags upon arrival.
