Etihad Guest, Etihad Airways’ multi-airline loyalty program, has added a new payment feature, Walletplus, that makes managing your finances while traveling a whole lot easier. Powered by Visa, this service allows members to load money onto their Etihad Guest card and convert it to 11 different foreign currencies, which they can spend upon arrival in another country. To develop Walletplus, Etihad Guest partnered with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Rêv Worldwide, a global leader in multi-currency prepaid processing. Of the 11 currencies that can be held on the card at any given time, one of them must be UAE Dirham, while the other 10 currencies to choose from include the Australian Dollar, U.S. Dollar, Pound Sterling, Euro, Indian Rupee, Canadian Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, and Thai Baht.
Additionally, Etihad Guest members can download the Walletplus mobile application, available on iOS and Android devices, to access a range of functions that include checking their account balance and transaction history, transfering money to other Etihad Guest members with an activated Walletplus account (AED only), and reporting a lost or stolen card.
The benefits of Walletplus don’t end at convenience: its users can earn one Etihad Guest Mile per US$2 spend in the UAE and one Etihad Guest Mile per US$1 spent abroad. And considering the Etihad Guest card with Walletplus can be used to pay at tens of millions of global merchants, the miles should rack up fairly quickly.
The Etihad Guest card with Walletplus will be given to Etihad Guest Tier members in the UAE in early March and afterward roll out to Etihad Guest members in other countries.
