Earlier this year, Singapore-based Loco Group unveiled its first Indonesian outlet on the ground floor of Jakarta’s Pacific Place. The freshly minted establishment—which was launched in partnership with The Union Group—prides itself in its authentic offerings, whipping up dishes that are heavily influenced by its founders’ own culinary adventures in Mexico. Chef Jason Jones of Melbourne’s beloved Mamasita is behind the menu, which includes standouts such as barbecued corn on the cob served with chipotle mayo and cotija cheese, tostaditas with blue swimmer crab, and crispy fish fillet tacos with jalapeño cabbage and chimmichuri mayo.
Weekend brunch is a serious affair at Super Loco, where kickstarters range from the nutrient-packed acai bowl to the hearty—and seriously indulgent—super huevos rancheros: a cheesy quesadilla with all the trimmings (refried beans, sunny side eggs, salsa, guacamole, sour cream). The impressive collection of tequila, mezcal, and innovative cocktails is also a highlight; among the crowdpleasers here are the lucha margarita, el megroni, and mexpresso martini.
On the design front, Super Loco is bold without being overbearing. The interior—a project by Sydney-based Akin Creative—mixes simple furniture pieces with fun paraphernalia like sombreros and Mexican wrestler masks, creating a space that’s conducive to conversation, photo-taking sessions, taco-eating contests, and piñata bashings.
