Thank you for your interest in writing for DestinAsian. Here are a few things you should know.

What we’re looking for

We’re interested in immersive travel experiences and destinations that are accessible to most people with a focus on Asia. Our stories have a strong luxury element, which we’d like to hear about in the pitch sent to us. Only pitches sent to us after the trip—not before—will be considered. We do not publish stories that have already been published, even on a personal blog.

What you should consider

Pick up a copy of the magazine to get a feel for them. (Or download on Zinio) and familiarize yourself with the sections. We cover new happenings in the world of travel, focused mostly on the Asia-Pacific region, and we do follow developments elsewhere, for instance in Europe and the Americas.

If you wish to contribute to the magazine, we suggest you tailor your pitches to these and other sections first. After we get to know you a little better, your chances of successfully pitching feature stories will dramatically improve.

Next Stop: Where to eat, stay, and shop in an up-and-coming destination.
Top Tables: A look at interesting new restaurants.
Heritage: Focused on historical towns or neighborhoods and conservation efforts.
Art Scene: Interesting news from the arts, including exhibits and museums.
Hotel Openings: Note-worthy launches of resorts and hotels.
Checking In: A writer’s experience staying at new and notable resorts and hotels.

For the website, you can feature story ideas and browse through the website for more.

Who you should contact

To send your story ideas for the magazine, write to editor@destinasian.com with a short pitch (under 100 words) outlining the crux of your story. Do not attach a copy of your story. If you’re pitching a photo or illustrated story, attach no more than 4 low-resolution images in the email, along with the pitch.

Tip: Use ‘Pitch’ in your subject line to get our attention.

How soon will you hear from us

We receive an overwhelming number of pitches and unfortunately, we are unable to respond to every one due to the volume of submissions we receive daily. Only those stories we can commission for the magazine will receive an email from us. But of course we still want to see your best ideas. All pitches will be reviewed by our editorial team.
