Forget perks like welcome drinks and pillow chocolates, the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui now offers Android smartphones in-room for all guests during their stay. Guests can access the phones by agreeing to terms and conditions on the device after check-in, enabling the user to make free local calls and international calls to the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, and China. Unlimited 3G mobile internet and interactive maps mean travelers have the inside track on finding the city’s latest haunts and obscure back alleys while on the go. An application even collects discounts from city venues. Though not the first to offer the service (Hong Kong’s boutique The Mira hotel introduced smartphones in-room last year) the Hyatt Regency’s phone comes equipped with cutting edge features such as a key that enables guests to erase all data after usage for privacy. Just be careful not to lose the phone, missing devices cost US$258.
