With go-karting’s rise in popularity, one particular company in Tokyo has stood out for its unique take on this thrilling activity.

MariCar, which was founded in June 2015, offers go-karts with high specifications and even fun costumes for go-karters to rent.

This means that you’ll be able to race through the bustling streets of Tokyo in classic Mario Kart style, dressed up in the likes of Mario, Yoshi, Princess Peach, and even Batman!

To take part, guests are required to have a Japanese driver’s license or an international driver’s permit. Next comes the fun part, where one can pick from dozens of character costumes and accessories—options run the gamut from superhero to anime. Go-karters will then go through a short race tutorial where every button and lever is explained (in case you’re wondering, they’ve got English-speaking instructors).

Finally, pick a route of your choice; the most popular one loops around Tokyo Tower, Roppongi, and Shibuya. The real race begins when the group drives out onto the streets together, and the excitement hits you.

While zipping through Tokyo and “racing” your friends makes for great fun, the speed limit is kept at 60 kilometers per hour for safety.

Dare you try this on your next trip to Tokyo?
