Bursting at the seams with edgy features, Niyama by Per AQUUM is set to add a fresh twist to Maldives’ resort scene when it opens its doors on January 15. The new concept resort, which stretches over two islands, boasts Subsix, the world’s first underwater nightclub located eight meters below the surface of the Indian Ocean and The Edge, a floating restaurant 500 meters offshore and only accessible by boat. The resort’s 87 studios and pavilions include over-water and beach options, with some sporting private fibre-optic lit pools and 24-hour butler service. All feature the latest technology including an interactive TV system, iPads, and Wi-Fi.
Niyama’s onshore dining options include Tribal with live cooking stations on hot rock grills and open fires; The Deli, an international gourmet delicatessen; Dune, a chic daytime beach hub; Epicure, for all day international dining; and Fahrenheit, a sunset rooftop bar.
In terms of leisure and activities, Niyama offers a 24-hour spa, a first in the Maldives, and guided visits to its Marine Biology lab for coral rehabilitation.
