New Zealand’s tech-savvy capital has recently rolled out Virtual Wellington, allowing people to explore the city via a free app in the Steam and Oculus VR stores.

The pack includes 360-degree video tours of local attractions and businesses—like the special effects house behind Lord of the Rings—as well as an interactive game, WellTown.

Six in-game experiences run the gamut from a fireworks display at Maori New Year to diving in the harbor with a southern right whale. Meanwhile, visitors to real-life Wellington should not miss Te Papa Tongarewa, or the Museum of New Zealand, for its brand-new exhibition zone Te Taiao | Nature.

Aside from tackling the issues of species extinction, pollution, and climate change, the galleries act as a cutting-edge showcase of the country’s wildlife and unique natural environment.
