Melbourne: The City’s Latest Sky-High Attraction

It may not be as precipitous as The Edge—a glass observation deck suspended 300 meters above the ground in the city’s tallest building, the Eureka Tower—but Melbourne’s latest sky-high attraction will leave your head spinning nonetheless. The first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, the 120-meter-high Southern Star (thesouthernstar.com.au) observation wheel takes visitors on a panoramic 30-minute revolution, commanding views of Port Philip Bay as well as Federation Square and the new Harbour Town, an upmarket shopping and dining precinct in the central Docklands area that the wheel calls home. –Natasha Dragun
