The Luxe List 2012, China: Andaz Shanghai at Shanghai
0

Asia’s first Andaz—the hip hotel brand from Hyatt—occupies a retro-futuristic building that rises 28 stories above the historic courtyards of Shanghai’s Xintiandi entertainment district, which can be viewed through the round-cornered windows of many of the 307 rooms and suites.

Unfussy but filled with gadgetry, guest quarters also come equipped with LED mood lighting and glowing (if somewhat short) polymer tubs in the granite-floored bathrooms—and, as at all Andaz hotels, guests have their choice of goodies and non-alcoholic drinks from the minibar, as well as free Wi-Fi and local phone calls. The playful vibe continues in the lobby lounge with its square leather chairs and candy-striped carpet, though the outdoor terrace is a better bet for late-night party action

88 Songshan Lu; 86-21/2310-1234; shanghai.andaz.hyatt.com; doubles from US$348.
