Catching Up: Bobby Tonelli

We first got in touch with Bobby Tonelli’s team a month ago, when he was in the midst of hosting Steady Lah!, a reality show that tests how expats have adapted to life in Singapore. His busy schedule kept getting in the way, but, true gentleman that he is, he still delivered!

The Las Vegas-born Fly Entertainment artist is now working with Caltex Singapore as the host of their branded content series titled Motoring Marvels. He will be back on cable television hosting the second season of History Channel’s Celebrity Car Wars.

In an e-mail interview, he tells us about his European adventures with his girlfriend, Indonesian Tata Cahyani, and how traveling has shaped his world view.

When did you first travel overseas?

My first trip overseas trip was when I went to Singapore in 1997. I came here to model, and ended up staying for seven months. 🙂

What’s your favorite destination? Any interesting event that happened to you while traveling?

There are so many! I really like Spain, though. I’ve been there a couple times so far and each time it grows on me more and more.

I think one of the more memorable times I have had was cycling through Tuscany.  My girlfriend and I had a guide who took us to some amazing sites, like wineries.

Traveling opened my eyes to cultures I would have never experienced if I just stayed in the United States. It allowed me to meet people that I have loved, befriended, etcetera. Also because most of my traveling involves work, it’s an important part of what I do.

Which countries are next on your must-visit list?

Anywhere really, hahaha! I wouldn’t mind going back to Europe though.

Aisle seat, middle, or window seat?

Aisle seat.  I have long legs so middle or window seat is hard for me.

How many countries have you visited so far?

Around 16 countries.

Is there anything you can travel without?

I guess a toothbrush, since most hotels always have them? Haha!

Who are your favourite travel companions?

My girlfriend for sure. 🙂 I haven’t done a guys trip only yet so I will need to get back to you on that.

How do you deal with jet lag?

I sleep it off.  The more you fight it, the harder it is.  Just embrace it, sleep, and you will get over it much faster.
