STREET SMARTS
The words “food court” don’t usually convey the most appetizing of images, but Kuala Lumpur’s new Hutong (LG/F, Lot 10, Bukit Bintang; lot10.com.my) has come up with a novel way to tempt your taste buds.
Occupying the basement of the recently renovated Lot 10 Shopping Centre, Hutong brings together food stalls from 27 of the region’s top hawker establishments. The non-halal lineup includes classic treats such as KL’s Campbell Road popiah spring rolls, Singapore’s famed Hong Tai hokkien mee noodles, and dim sum from Hong Kong’s Luk Yu Tea House. With meals starting from around US$3, it’s certainly an affordable—if a little less authentic—way to sample some of Southeast Asia’s best street food.
