Hôtel Droog, Amsterdam
The perfect bolt-hole for design mavens, the “the one and only bedroom” at this hotel-cum-showroom is the brainchild of Droog cofounders Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker, who have put their Dutch design brand’s stamp on a 17th-century former guildhall in Amsterdam’s canal district. The first two floors house retail outlets, a beauty bar, an exhibition space, and a café, while the attic has been transformed into a stylish apartment kitted out with Droog furnishings, a kitchenette, and a cozy bedroom. It’s one of the coolest addresses in town, with a sequel in the works for Hong Kong, due to open soon on Tai Ping Shan Street, Soho (7B Staalstraat; doubles from US$385).
