Want to become a better photographer? Need a vacation?  Combine the two impulses at an upcoming photography workshop helmed by professional photographer Rio Helmi at the gorgeous Alila Ubud resort on Bali.

Be quick, though, as you’ll have to book by March 16 and no more than eight students will be accepted. The workshop runs for four days and three nights starting on April 6.

Helmi is a veteran photographer whose work has appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and the New York Times, among many other outlets. He has a studio in Ubud.

After assessing your level on the first day, Helmi will accompany you and other students on shoots around Ubud. Besides sharing lessons from his decades of experience, he’ll review your work and suggest improvements throughout the workshop.

He’ll cover the basics of image editing and give printing tips as well. Students are expected to bring a D-SLR camera and a laptop with Photoshop installed.

Package rates start at just over US$1,000 for a stay in a superior room. Contact the resort at 62-361/975-963 or ubud@alilahotels.com to reserve a spot.
