American Airlines has announced plans to fly the first nonstop route between Dallas and Beijing beginning next summer. A Boeing 777-200ER will service the route following the airline’s decision to retrofit an entire fleet with fully flat beds in business class, new in-flight entertainment, and Wi-Fi capabilities. The flight will operate in conjunction with the airline’s One World Partner, Japan Airlines, and will be the sixth daily flight to Asia from Dallas. “By adding this new Beijing service, American will achieve a significant milestone in the development of its Asian network by offering non-stop service from Dallas to five key markets in Asia—Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo,” said Andrew Nocella, the airline’s chief marketing officer. The route will be American’s 11th between the US and Asia. The carrier launched daily services between Dallas and Hong Kong and Shanghai last June.
