Fresh from a US$30 million tip-to-toe renovation, the property that once housed the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket has reopened today as the Angsana Laguna Phuket.
The resort’s 409 guest rooms and suites have been refurbished with natural materials, jewel-toned fabrics, and contemporary Thai artwork and feature private furnished balconies with floor-to-ceiling sliding window doors. Over-water lofts feature private jetties and outdoor soaking tubs.
Additional highlights include a fitness center overlooking the lagoon, a 323-meter free-form pool flanked by a man-made beach, a two-story tree-house-inspired kids’ club, five bars and restaurants, an Angsana Spa, and two resident elephants named Lucky and Joey.
Opening rates, available until February 28 2012, start at THB6,100 (US$199).
Across the lagoon from the new Angsana is the Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary. For a review of that and some context on the sprawling Laguna Phuket complex that holds these resorts, click here.
