Banyan Tree is to unveil its first Vietnam project on November 1.The 280-hectare integrated Laguna L?ng Cô will sit in front of the rice paddies and forest of central Vietnam’s tranquil Canh Duong beach. In addition to residences for sale, the complex will feature two five-star hotels.

The Angsana L?ng Cô will consist of 229 suites, of which 100 will have private pools, while the more petite Banyan Tree L?ng Cô presents 49 one-bedroom villas built with clay tiled roofs and wood rafter ceilings, emphasizing architecture of previous national dynasties.

Although only 60 minutes from Da Nang International Airport, guests at both hotels will be a world away among the gentle surf of the East Sea with the Annamite mountains looming large in the background.

Nick Faldo, winner of six Major championships, has been brought in to design the resort’s championship golf course, while other activities on offer include catamaran sailing and several other watersports, as well as yoga in the estate’s pavilion. The hotels are well-equipped to cater for families, with kids’ all-terrain vehicles and mountain bikes available for hire.

Day trippers are spoilt for choice with three UNESCO world heritage sites nearby. The city of Hoi An was the largest trading port in South East Asia during the 1st century, while further south the My Son sanctuary is one of the region’s great Hindu temple complexes. Lying in wait on the Perfume River, the former Nguyen dynasty capital of Hue is about 100 kilometers north of Da Nang.

Returning home for the evening, guests can opt for a private dinner on the beach under canopy or wander up the tree-lined hill path to Saffron restaurant, where modern Thai food is served in a royal purple fabric and silk interior design. All-day dining is also available at the Library Bar, which holds a fine selection of teas, and the more casual Beach Club restaurant, serving Italian cuisine and seafood.

Ridwan Heriyadi, general manager of the Angsana L?ng Cô, told DestinAsian that the hotel was on track to open on November 1.
