Vietnam’s newest resort Angsana Lang Co is holding a one-night-only gala dinner on April 6 prepared by chef and restaurateur Bobby Chinn. Although perhaps best known for his globetrotting TV shows World Café Asia and World Café Middle East, New Zealand–born Chinn has been managing his eponymous restaurant in Hanoi’s Old Quarter for some 17 years. The man who, according to Anthony Bourdain, knows everything there is to know about Southeast Asian food cuts an interesting figure. After reading finance at university in Britain, he became a Wall Street banker before hanging up his tie to take up stand-up comedy. His drive to become a chef was kick-started by a period spent waiting tables in San Francisco—he later went on to train under Hubert Keller.
To promote the dinner, Angsana Lang Co is offering a special rate of US$533 for a Deluxe room on April 5 and 6, which includes the gala dinner. For more information or to make a reservation call the hotel on +84-54/3695-800, e-mail reservations-langco@angsana.com or visit angsana.com.
