Cathay Pacific will refresh its first class service across all of its Boeing 777-300ER fleet. Dubbed a “midlife refresh” program, Bose noise-canceling headphones and new pajamas designed by Chinese designer, Pye, will debut in all 24 of Cathay’s 777-300ERs.

The airline is set to have a total revamp of the section in 2018, but until then minor changes will update this award-winning cabin. The upgrade will take about a year to complete, but the first planes will be available as soon as the end of July. Foster + Partners created the new lounge design including glossy, dark materials on passenger “suites”, warm-toned natural leather on the interior, and plush burgundy carpet in the aisle.

“Elements of the cabin were looking tired so we have decided to make a few changes that will enhance the overall experience for our premium passengers,” said general manger of products, Toby Smith, in Cathay’s internal newsletter.

Touch screen seat controls and bespoke reading lights are more of the cabin’s new elements. In addition the meal table is more adjustable, the personal closet has been enlarged, and the basin and counter top in the lavatory will be remodeled.

Guests may be a bit disappointed with the redesign as the popular Shanghai Tang pyjamas will be no longer. However, custom seat fabric that is soft to the touch and original artwork by Maria Lobo and Linda Leviton will satisfy patrons’ aesthetic needs.
