Already able to boast being India’s leading luxury hotel group, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has added yet another plush amenity to its already extensive property roster: ESPA, a brand new spa opened at The Leela Palace Chennai. Sizing nearly 1,500 square meters, the spa is one of India’s first to feature thermal suites, promoting healing through water-based therapies. Vitality pools move guests through a series of lounge beds with body jets, mosaic-glass steam rooms, circular saunas walled in oak wood, and rain showers. Jeffrey Wilkes of DesignWilkes and the group’s director of design and operations, Madhu Nair, co-designed the 12 treatment rooms with bespoke furnishings, Turkish marble, Travertine stone, and a carefully curated selection of artwork, wherein therapists personalize treatments that blend European and Eastern techniques using ESPA spa products from the UK, made with botanical extracts and marine actives. For the most discerning spa-goers, the Private Spa Suite includes its own living area opening out to a private terrace overlooking the palace property’s lush gardens, while sleep pods, relaxation areas, tea lounges, a swimming pool, and a fitness center ensure a luxuriant experience for every guest.
