Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport is now home to a brand new lounge for first- and business-class flyers of Etihad Airways, marking the carrier’s first lounge in Australia. Located in the international terminal, the lounge keeps its design in lines with that of the flagship lounges in Abu Dhabi: a two-level space filled with natural light and Apple computers, Wi-Fi, private shower facilities, a playroom for children, and male and female prayer rooms. Food is available a la carte or from a buffet, and among other alcoholic beverages, wines come from local Australian vineyards. Etihad, together in a partnership with Virgin Australia, has routes to the airport twice daily serviced by both Airbus A340-600s and Boeings 777-300s, and—come June 2015—the route will be among the first to also include The Residence luxury cabin on the carrier’s new A380 aircraft.
