Ahead of the delivery of Finnair’s first Airbus A350 XWB, the airline has revealed plans for the aircraft’s cabin interiors. Debuting in 2015, the next generation A350 will have a capacity of 297 seats including 46 business-class seats, 43 economy-plus seats, and 208 economy seats. The cabin design is the work of Vertti Kivi & Co, who also designed the airline’s premium lounge at Helsinki Airport. The aircraft will feature a “Space Alive” concept, featuring dynamic lighting and colors that compliment the time of day or destination. When descending in Helsinki, for example, the interior LED system will display ambient blue colors. In business class the new Zodiac Cirrus III seat is used in a 1-2-1 configuration giving every passenger direct aisle access and space to recline fully. All passengers can enjoy in-flight Wi-Fi aboard the aircraft, adjustable temperatures, and lower cabin pressure. The new plane is also hailed as more fuel efficient and boasts better air filtration systems that renew the cabin every two to three minutes. The aircraft will serve routes to Shanghai, Bangkok, and Beijing beginning the second quarter of 2015. Hong Kong and Singapore routes will be added by 2016.
