With panoramic views of the line where Asia meets Europe, the Sinan Kadafar-designed Gezi Hotel Bosphorus (Mete Caddesi No. 34, Taksim; 90-212/393-2700; gezibosphorus.com; doubles from US$290) will  unveil four new suites next month. Each of the suites features open fireplaces, 20-square-meter private balconies and Jacuzzi tubs with expansive views over the Bosphorus. Just a few steps outside is Taksim Square, the central point in Istanbul, and the home of the Atatürk Kültür Merkezi, the city’s main opera house. The hotel itself comprises 56 guest rooms and 11 suites. The paintings of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian were Kadafar’s design anchor point for each of the rooms—and the building façade reflects an attempt to modernize the original postwar architecture. The hotel’s restaurant G’Nova serves modern Turkish delights and flight Mediterranean fare, while the in-house spa offers a range of locally-inspired treatments.
