Helsinki has turned more than a few heads as the incumbent World Design Capital—from the zen-like Chapel of Silence in Narinkka Square to the altogether louder installations of Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno. Even the Finnish capital’s airport has joined the party with an all-new shrine to design.

Located at Gate 11, passengers walk into a tent where they are greeted with the sounds of the Finnish wilderness, waves breaking, and snow crunching underfoot—while taking in an exhibition of new design innovation. Outside the tent, visitors can while away the time on park benches around whitewashed wooden tables. Visitors are encouraged to write down their thoughts and place them on the wall—allowing the area to evolve and grow.
